How to Skip Insurance Phone Systems and Speak to a Representative [2016 Edition]

If you know you need to get directly to a rep to ask questions, you can try the following three techniques to skip the “IVR” (automated phone system) and get directly to a human.
- Start saying “help” and “representative”.
- Often the phone system will ask you to redo your entry or that it doesn’t understand. Try saying representative another 5 times. Really!
- Try pressing “0” on repeat.
- Anytime you can enter in an NPI or Tax ID or a Subscriber ID, try entering in the wrong information many times in a row — it usually takes three tries before they will transfer you.
And that’s it! Simple but effective, especially if you need direct access to a real human to answer your questions.
